Jenna Scampton, LPC

Let me start out by saying I’m glad you’re here, and I’m happy to help.

Greetings! I’m Jenna and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I know how hard it can be to seek out services for mental health. I can imagine you’ve been told things your entire life about “getting over it” and “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.” I already know you’re one tough person as you’ve taken that first step to start researching help. I know because I have been where you are and I was lucky enough to find a therapist also. Wanting to give back is the only reason I do this work. It can feel like they are magical people but really this process starts with YOU. You are the one doing this difficult work and I will be supporting you throughout our time together. I believe it is very natural to need help at times and I will even encourage you to ask for it throughout our therapeutic process together.

My name is Jenna Scampton and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania.

I completed my Bachelor’s degree at Temple University majoring in psychology, and my Master’s degree at Chestnut Hill College in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. I am currently certified in Prolonged Exposure therapy through University of Penn, and now in process of EMDR certification via the EMDR Institute.

My Counseling Specialities Include:

Individual adults who have experienced trauma, difficult or confusing relationships, stressful or abusive family dynamics, and substance use. I have 5 years of experience currently stemming from outpatient programs and intensive outpatient programs. What I have found over the years is that we already have all the tools we need to heal. However, like a machine our brains sometimes get stuck trying to process events that are unnatural aka traumatic. Then while trying to process something unnatural our brains trick us into more unnatural events trying to work itself through it. While our brains are incredible this often times does not work and our brains need our help to guide them through this trauma and emotional distress. We will work together on this and help you strive for goals you never thought imaginable.

My Approach to Counseling

My therapeutic style includes being very empathetic and supportive while also teaching and holding accountability. I can be pretty direct at times since I know that time is limited and we want to be back to our best selves as quickly as possible. I know that your time is precious and I work to honor those inherent boundaries of yours. The techniques I use most often include client-centered, psychodynamic theory, family systems, Prolonged Exposure therapy and now offering EMDR therapy. Experiencing trauma is not your fault! But unfortunately moving through it is necessary for healing, growth, and getting back to your life. Things my clients often learn throughout this process include healthy boundaries, standing up for yourself, holding others and the self accountable, healthy communication techniques, self-love and compassion, and how to love and hope again.
